To say our season was incredible is an understatement but
saying this we did not have a perfect season, in fact far from it. We could have
made our journey a simple one, but along the way we came across challenges too
strong for us.
Throughout the whole season we have won 17/23 games in the
premiership with 2 draws, we won 5/6 games in the LV sadly losing in the final and finally
winning 7/9 games in the European leagues. To me, I see this as a success. We
made it into an incredible 3 out of 3 finals, winning a mighty two of them. So
next year we will get the three trophies back at Northampton?
Along the way we have had our spells of trouble but we had
been graced this year with minimal injuries. Yes, our mighty Corbs was out for
a ridiculous amount of time, with Foden hurting his leg again and sadly Matt
Williams breaking his leg on his debut, (Look out for him in the future, he's
going to be amazing!) But we coped. We
brought in players to help with injury cover which they worked well, this then also
brings me onto the signings for next year or should I say the non-existent list
of signings. I'm over the moon about Cam Dolan signing a 2 year contract with
saints and Joel Hodgson coming in to play scrum half however that is it, but not to worry, we
have a fantastic academy system which allows us to have faith in the younger,
inexperienced players which then have the opportunity to show their talent to saints
fans and the world. I continually look forward to seeing who they will produce
next.
I would like to personally thank Koree Briton, Cam Dolan and Fa'atoina Autagavaia
for coming as injury recover. Thank you for being thrown in the deep end at our
most desperate times. Thank you for the tries Fa'atoina autagavaia and thank
you Koree Briton for those hard hitting tackles which you threw yourself into. Whilst Cam
Dolan is yet to make it into a Saints shirt, he will in years to come so this
is a premature thank you but I have faith in your rugby and you will do
amazing.
Thank you for the signings we made at the end of last season:
Ma'afu, North, Corbisero, Verbakel and Dickson. Welcome to the Saints team with
two trophies to show off your amazing playing ability.
Thank you to the players who have done their time at Saints
and are moving onto new challenges. You have fort well and Good luck in your
new adventures in life, GJ Van Velze, Fa'atoina Autagavaia, Ryan Glynn and
Danny Herriot.
That brings me onto Dylan Hartley. A captain is someone who needs to lead from the front, a role model, a sign of encouragement when times are tough, so I truly believe there is no one better to captain us than Dylan Hartley. Dylan is incredible. There are no other words that could describe him. I don't think anyone can understand the type of player Dylan is until you see him in person; this is on and off the pitch. Dyls always has a second to spare to speak to you, he puts all his heart into wearing the Green, Black and Gold shirt. So that is why I can openly thank our club captain for this season and for many seasons to come.

To know what we could achieve next season scares me. I do not
think my heart or body can take anymore of the emotions I felt this year but
three trophies would be nice boys.
Lastly, Thank you to the coaches, players, fans and any staff
for making my season a special one. Without you, we wouldn't be where we are
today, the winners, number one.
This still doesn't feel right to say this but ...
We are the champions of England.
